MIJF

As part of the Momentum brief, original content was required to fill the pages of the digital magazine. Each piece of content was to be designed, produced and delivered within the weekly deadline structure. One of these briefs was to design a poster to help promote the Melbourne International Jazz Festival.

The brief asked to capture the essence of jazz by designing a poster that continues to celebrate the visual tradition that Liquorice Design Studio have established. The final design adheres to Liquorice's established and distinctive visual style, as well as displaying a natural progression of this style.

The line based abstract illustration visually represents layers of sound, vibrations and energy and how the action of sound can be shown to the eye. Gradients have been used to help show the many different sonic transitions in jazz music. Quite to loud, soft to hard, quick to slow and so on.
